Man Killed in Single-Vehicle crash in Moore County

A tragic incident unfolded in Moore County on Friday evening, resulting in the loss of a man’s life. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that the fatal crash occurred in the evening of January 12, on FM 281, approximately two miles east of Etter.

According to authorities, the accident involved a 2006 Toyota Avalon traveling eastbound on FM 281. For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota veered into the westbound lane and eventually ended up in the north ditch. The driver, identified as 82-year-old Jimmy Lamb from Sunray, attempted to correct the steering, but unfortunately, the vehicle rolled over. Lamb, who was not properly secured, was ejected from the car during the rollover. The Toyota eventually came to rest on its roof in the middle of the roadway.

Tragically, Lamb was pronounced dead at the scene by Moore County Justice of the Peace Britt Marquez. The news of this devastating loss has sent shockwaves through the community, as Lamb was a well-known figure in Sunray.

The incident occurred under relatively normal road conditions, with the posted speed limit being 75 mph and the road surface dry and clear. However, it is still unclear why the Toyota veered into the opposite lane, and investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the crash.
