Arrest Made in Armed Robbery and Stolen Vehicle Case in Westminster

The suspect, later identified as Brian L. Magruder of Baltimore City, entered the store and demanded cigarettes from the clerk. Fearing for their safety, the clerk retreated to a back room while Magruder stole the cigarettes and fled the scene.
A joint investigation by the Westminster Police Department (WPD) and the Carroll County Sheriffs Office (CCSO) quickly led to Magruder’s arrest. During a canvass of the area, a CCSO Deputy noticed a vehicle leaving the scene, and upon further investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle’s tags were stolen. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but Magruder attempted to flee. A pursuit ensued, with CCSO deputies eventually apprehending Magruder after a brief foot chase in Baltimore County.
Further evidence linking Magruder to the armed robbery was revealed during a search of the stolen vehicle conducted by WPD detectives. The stolen vehicle had been reported stolen in Baltimore County, adding another layer to the ongoing investigation. Magruder was subsequently transported to the Carroll County Detention Center, where he awaits an appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
