Local School Board Trustee and Two Children Killed in Tragic Plane crash
In a devastating turn of events, a local school board trustee and his two children lost their lives in a plane crash on Sunday in Parker County. The incident took place near Poolville, and authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
Emergency responders, including the Parker County Sheriff’s Office, local fire departments, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and LifeCare Ambulance, swiftly arrived at the scene after receiving reports of the plane crash. The aircraft involved was a twin-engine Cessna C310, which reportedly departed from an airport in Wise County.
However, a preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) indicated that the plane actually took off from Carrizo Springs, located in far South Texas. It was en route to the Bridgeport Municipal Airport in Wise County when it tragically crashed just 10 miles away from its intended destination.
Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered that all three occupants of the plane had lost their lives. One of the victims was identified as Dr. Heath Smith, the vice president of the Paradise ISD Board of Trustees. The identities of his two children, who were also on board, have not yet been released.
Dr. Smith, in addition to his role as a trustee, was a well-respected bariatric surgeon with offices in Decatur and Fort Worth. His untimely passing has left the community in shock and mourning.
