Kanpur Police Arrests History-Sheeter for Abducting and Raping a 17-Year-Old Girl in Gorakhpur Jungle
Kanpur police have arrested a history-sheeter from Deoria for allegedly abducting and raping a 17-year-old girl in the jungles of Gorakhpur. The accused, identified as Chauthi Gupta, had taken the girl to the Kusumhi jungles after meeting her at the Gorakhpur railway station. He then raped her and looted her belongings, including cash worth Rs 10,000 and her mobile phone.
The incident occurred on January 11 when the girl ran away from home following an argument with her mother. She boarded a train to Gorakhpur and came into contact with Gupta at the railway station. He lured her to the Kusumhi jungles, where he committed the heinous crime.
After the ordeal, the victim managed to make a call to her father using the phone of a local resident. She narrated the horrific incident to him, following which her father immediately reached Gorakhpur. On January 12, they approached the Gorakhpur police, who directed them to file a complaint at the Jajmau police station in Kanpur.
The Jajmau police registered a case against Gupta under sections of rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. A police team was sent to Gorakhpur to investigate the matter, and Gupta was subsequently arrested in Deoria. During the investigation, Gupta confessed to raping the minor girl.
Chauthi Gupta, the accused, is a history-sheeter from Rudrapur police station, according to Jajmau police station in-charge Arvind Singh Sisaudia.
