66-Year-Old Woman Accused of Killing Son and Hiding Body in Mississippi Home
A shocking incident has unfolded in Mississippi, as a 66-year-old woman stands accused of killing her own son and attempting to hide his body in her home. What’s even more disturbing is the woman’s alleged attempt to pretend to be her deceased son in letters to family members, in which she insisted he was still alive.
The Gulfport Police Department recently made an arrest in connection with this case. Jerry Roby, also known as Jerry Isreal, has been charged with the murder of her 42-year-old son, John Allen Gaither. The police made the gruesome discovery of Gaither’s body hidden behind a false wall.
This disturbing chain of events began on December 22, when the police responded to a welfare concern for Gaither, who had been reported missing by relatives living out of state. According to CNN, family members had last heard from Gaither on December 10.
As the investigation unfolded, police began to notice discrepancies in the statements provided by Isreal. She became increasingly uncooperative and changed her story multiple times. To make matters even more alarming, detectives discovered that Isreal had a previous murder conviction from the ’90s. She had allegedly made several attempts to dispose of the body in different locations throughout Florida.
On January 18th, authorities conducted a search of Isreal’s residence. Upon entering the home, they found Isreal ingesting a handful of unspecified pills. She was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment, while the search continued. It was during this search that detectives made the chilling discovery of Gaither’s body hidden behind a false wall in a wooden box.
In an attempt to cover up her son’s death, Isreal had written notes to family members in his name, assuring them that he was okay. However, these efforts were ultimately in vain, as the truth came to light.
Isreal has since been charged with first-degree murder and is currently being held without bond at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the darkness that can lurk within our own homes.
