Johnell Jackson : Suspect Arrested in Santa Ana Shooting: Orange County Register

A man was shot outside a 99 Cents Only store in Santa Ana, leading to the arrest of a suspect in Buena Park. The incident occurred on Sunday night when the victim, who was sitting in his friend’s car near the store on North Main Street, heard gunshots and realized he had been shot in the forearm. The victim then rushed to St. Joseph Hospital in Orange for treatment.

Witnesses reported that the suspect, a male, fled the scene in a white Ford Explorer following the shooting. It remains unclear whether the victim was the intended target or if the shooter was aiming at someone else. The Santa Ana Police Department launched an investigation into the incident and worked with the Buena Park Police Department to track down the suspect.

On Monday, officers located the suspect’s vehicle in Buena Park and conducted a traffic stop as it was leaving the area. The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Johnell Marquise Jackson, was taken into custody on charges of attempted murder and firearm-related offenses. The swift actions of law enforcement led to the apprehension of the suspect, providing some relief to the community in the wake of the shooting.
