Prithviraj Ghorpade : “Maharashtra Police Arrests Woman for Prostitution Racket in Navi Mumbai Mall”

A woman has been taken into custody in Navi Mumbai after being accused of running a prostitution ring in a shopping center in Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai, law enforcement officials revealed on Thursday. The 40-year-old woman was reportedly managing the operation from a spa located within a prominent mall in the Vashi area. Authorities were able to rescue two victims who were allegedly coerced into the sex trade by the woman.

Upon receiving a tip from a confidential source, police decided to take action and dispatched an undercover officer to the spa on Tuesday evening. The officer discovered two young women, approximately 20 years old, who were working at the establishment and being forced into the illicit business, according to Prithviraj Ghorpade, senior police inspector at the Navi Mumbai anti-human trafficking unit.

**Arrest and Rescue Operation**

The accused individual, who was managing the spa and allegedly facilitating the prostitution activities, was promptly apprehended by the authorities. The two victims were immediately relocated to a safe shelter where they are currently residing, the official confirmed.

Law enforcement officials have launched an in-depth investigation into the matter and have filed charges against the woman under sections 370 (trafficking of persons) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), as well as the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.

In a separate incident that occurred the previous week, two individuals were arrested, and a 14-year-old girl from Bangladesh was rescued from a similar prostitution ring in Navi Mumbai. Following a tip-off, authorities conducted a raid on a residential complex in the Taloja area, leading to the successful rescue of the young girl.
