**The Disturbance on I-691**

It all started when a driver on I-691 East reported a disturbance to Troop I in Bethany around 8:15 a.m. The driver explained that a gray Jeep Cherokee had tried to force its way onto an exit ramp, causing him to maneuver his vehicle into the right shoulder to avoid a collision. The woman driving the Jeep allegedly began yelling obscenities at him, creating a tense situation on the road.

**The Confrontation**

The driver followed the Jeep onto Route 15 South, where the woman reportedly hit her brakes on an exit ramp, forcing him to do the same. The two vehicles eventually ended up in a parking lot on East Main Street, where the woman claimed to be law enforcement and showed a gold-colored badge and ID in a wallet. The driver, who had been on a 911 call during the incident, managed to capture the interactions on his vehicle’s camera system.

**The Investigation and Arrest**

State police reviewed the video recording of the incident, which corroborated the driver’s account of the events. Despite multiple attempts to contact Nelson, she eventually turned herself in at Troop I in Bethany after learning of an active warrant for her arrest. Nelson was charged with second-degree breach of peace, second-degree reckless endangerment, and impersonation of a police officer. She was released on a $5,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on March 6.

The strange incident on Interstate 691 serves as a reminder to always remain calm and respectful on the road. Impersonating law enforcement is a serious offense that can have legal consequences. Stay safe and drive responsibly to avoid getting caught up in similar situations.
