Mirza Mujahid : “Rajasthan school teachers suspended over ‘love jihad’ charge; probe ordered”

Rajasthan School Teachers Suspended Over Love Jihad Allegations

In a recent development in Rajasthan, two school teachers have been suspended over allegations of their involvement in religious conversion and ties to banned terror outfits. The teachers, Mirza Mujahid and Firoz Khan, were posted at a government-run school in Kota’s Sangod block.

**Allegations and Investigation**

The suspension orders were issued following directions from the Rajasthan education minister, Madan Dilawar. The probe stems from allegations contained in a memorandum from Sarva Hindu Samaj, which claimed ongoing activities related to religious conversion and “love jihad” since 2019. The term “love jihad” refers to a conspiracy theory that Muslim men are luring Hindu women to convert them to Islam.

It was also alleged that the teachers had connections with proscribed outfits and links to Pakistani groups. The memorandum further stated that an FIR had been registered at Sangod police station regarding these allegations, but no action had been taken. Additionally, it claimed that a Hindu girl named as Muslim in the school record had been abducted by Muslim youths and was still missing.

**Minister’s Response**

In a video statement released by the education minister, he emphasized that strict action had been initiated against the three teachers at the government senior secondary school in Khajuri Odpur village. He stated that if the teachers were found to be involved in the alleged activities, they would be terminated from their positions.

**Union Home Ministry’s Stand**

The Union home ministry had previously informed the Parliament that the term “love jihad” is not defined under existing laws. The minister reiterated that any involvement in religious conversion or related activities would not be tolerated, and strict action would be taken against those found guilty.

In conclusion, the Rajasthan government’s swift action against the suspended teachers highlights the zero-tolerance policy towards any form of religious conversion or “love jihad” activities within the education system. The investigation into these allegations is ongoing, with the promise of further action if necessary.
