Around 10,000 homes on Southern Vancouver Island were left in the dark on Sunday afternoon due to multiple power outages. Reports started pouring in just after 1 p.m, with the majority of outages concentrated in the West Shore area.

In Sooke, a whopping 1,450 people were affected by an outage caused by a fallen tree. Meanwhile, another outage in the West Shore left 3,400 customers without power since 2:30 p.m. The exact cause of most outages was still under investigation as of 3 p.m on Sunday.

Aside from the West Shore, customers in North Saanich, Shawnigan Lake, and even Galiano Island were also impacted by the power outages. The widespread nature of the disruptions led to a significant inconvenience for residents in these areas.
