Arrest Made in Colorado Springs Peeping Tom and Stalking Incidents: Troy Deck Identified as Suspect

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A 54-year-old man from Colorado Springs has been arrested by the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) after multiple reports of him peering into windows of residences in the Colorado College area. The man, identified as Troy Deck, was apprehended by the Strategic Investigation Unit of CSPD. Deck, who is a registered sex offender, has previously been arrested for similar incidents.

During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that Deck had failed to properly register as a sex offender. Consequently, he was arrested on December 29, 2023, for failure to comply with registration requirements. Detectives, however, didn’t stop there. Through digital evidence, they uncovered that Deck had also been stalking an unrelated female citizen both in person and online.

As a result, a second arrest warrant was issued for Deck on January 3, 2024, charging him with stalking. He was promptly taken into custody and has remained at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center ever since.

Further investigation by CSPD detectives linked Deck to a total of 11 incidents of Invasion of Privacy for Sexual Gratification, commonly known as peeping tom incidents, that occurred between December 2022 and September 2023. Deck was also identified as a suspect in a burglary and sexual assault that took place in August 2023. Consequently, on January 16, 2024, detectives obtained a third arrest warrant for Deck, encompassing the Invasion of Privacy incidents and the sexual assault.

The Colorado College Campus Safety Department played a significant role in assisting CSPD detectives by identifying additional incidents involving Deck that were previously unreported. Their collaboration highlights the importance of community involvement in solving and preventing crimes.

CSPD is urging anyone who believes they may have been a victim or has any information regarding crimes or unreported incidents involving Troy Deck to contact the Colorado Springs Police Department non-emergency number. It is crucial for the community to come forward and aid in the investigation.

This incident serves as a reminder of the need for vigilance and awareness in our communities. By remaining proactive and reporting suspicious activities, we can help ensure the safety of ourselves and our neighbors.
