Edmonton Police Apprehend Suspect in Connection to Multiple Bank Robberies

In a major breakthrough, the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has successfully arrested a man believed to be responsible for a series of bank robberies in the area. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Jagveer Kundi of Edmonton, has been charged with five counts of robbery and four counts of disguise with intent.

The investigation began after a string of bank robberies took place on October 30, December 22, January 4, and January 6. EPS had been actively searching for a man connected to these incidents. However, their efforts took an unexpected turn when another attempted robbery occurred on January 10 in Sherwood Park.

On that day, the suspect entered a bank and handed a note to a teller, demanding cash. Fortunately, the police were able to intervene swiftly and apprehend the suspect without any further incident. This arrest was the result of a lengthy and meticulous investigation carried out by EPS, with the valuable assistance of the Strathcona County RCMP.

Detective Justin Collis expressed his gratitude for the collaboration between the two law enforcement agencies. He stated, “A suspect in five serious crimes was apprehended as a result of this lengthy investigation. The Edmonton Police Service is grateful for the assistance provided by Strathcona County RCMP with identifying this suspect.”
