A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday evening in Wrentham, Massachusetts, as a man was struck and killed by two vehicles on Route 1. The victim has been identified as Patrick Royster, a 42-year-old resident of Taunton, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.
The deadly crash occurred around 5:45 p.m. in the vicinity of 545 Washington St., near the Harold Clark Town Forest and less than a half-mile away from Luciano’s Restaurant. Police Chief Bill McGrath stated that a preliminary investigation suggests Royster was walking on the northbound side of Route 1, specifically in the area of Thurston Street, when the first vehicle struck him. Tragically, Royster was then disabled in the roadway and subsequently hit by a second vehicle.
Both vehicles involved in the incident immediately stopped at the scene, along with other witnesses who provided valuable information to the authorities. Eileen Elliott, who works nearby, recalls seeing someone walking on the side of the highway and being puzzled by the situation. Within minutes, the sound of sirens filled the air, signaling the arrival of emergency responders.
