A 41-year-old Kenyan man tragically lost his life on Monday, February 5, in the Laurel area of Mississippi, US, after his car lost control and crashed into a tree. The Anne Arundel County Police Department received a call in the early hours of the morning, reporting the accident, but the eyewitness could not be located.
When officers arrived at the scene around 1:40 am, they found the Kenyan man, identified as Duke Kepha Mwebi, in critical condition. However, the caller, who remained unidentified, was nowhere to be seen. The officers proceeded to process the scene as investigations into the case began.
According to police reports, Mwebi was driving a Mercedes along Brock Ridge Road when he lost control of the vehicle. It appears that he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve, causing the car to veer off the road and collide with a tree. Paramedics from Prince George’s Hospital pronounced him dead at the scene, stating that he had succumbed to fatal injuries from the impact of the crash.
Detectives assigned to the case are planning to release an extensive report based on an autopsy that will be conducted by the Examiner’s office in Baltimore. This incident follows another tragic car accident involving a Kenyan less than a month ago in Massachusetts. In that case, a Kenyan national’s truck veered off the road and crashed into an unoccupied pickup. Eyewitnesses reported that the driver was speeding at the time of the accident. Firefighters who arrived at the scene pronounced the 34-year-old victim dead, indicating that he had passed away instantly.
