Man Arrested in Connection to Deadly shooting in Newport News
A man has been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting that took place in Newport News last month. Paul Joseph Mulleano, 39, has been charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and other weapons charges, according to the Newport News Police Department.
The incident occurred on the evening of January 27th in the 1100 block of 35th Street. Police officers were dispatched to the scene around 7:50 p.m. after an automatic gunshot detector system alert. Upon arrival, they discovered a man who had been shot.
The victim, identified as 38-year-old Jave Edwards of Newport News, was immediately transported to the hospital for treatment. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
Following an investigation, the police identified Mulleano, also known as “Goo-Goo,” as a suspect in the homicide. An arrest warrant was issued on January 29th, and he was apprehended in Hampton.
