by A tragic incident has unfolded in San Mateo, California, where a family of four was found dead in their home. The San Mateo Police Department (SMPD) has revealed that the “killer was among the deceased,” adding that there was no one else inside the house at the time of the incident.
The deceased have been identified as Anand Sujith Henry (42), his wife Alice Priyanka (40), and their twin children Noah and Neithan (4). They were originally from Kerala, India, and had been living in the United States for the past nine years.
Neighbours who spoke with local news outlet KRON4 described the family as friendly and said they had been residing in their home on Alameda de las Pulgas for a few years. Devastated neighbours expressed their shock, stating that they had never noticed anything unusual about the family.
According to the police, two of the victims died from gunshot wounds, while the cause of death for the other two is yet to be determined. SMPD released a statement on Facebook, revealing that the children were found deceased inside a bedroom, while the male and female were located deceased from gunshot wounds inside a bathroom. A 9mm pistol and a loaded magazine were also discovered in the bathroom.
The investigation is ongoing, with detectives working to gather evidence, interview witnesses and family members, and determine a possible motive. SMPD stated that they are confident the person responsible was located within the home.
Initially, family members suspected that carbon monoxide poisoning from the air conditioner or heater may have been the cause of death, as the family had previously complained of headaches and nausea. However, the police found no evidence of gas leakage or malfunctioning appliances in the house.
The Indian Consulate in San Francisco is providing consular assistance to the family members in India and has expressed condolences to both the bereaved family and the Indian American community.
