Man Arrested on Multiple Charges Following Apartment Fire in Indiana County

An Indiana-area man has been arrested and charged in connection with an overnight apartment fire in Indiana County. Kailum Jamal Miller, 28, of Indiana, is facing a total of 17 felony counts, including arson, criminal mischief, and risking catastrophe. He is also charged with misdemeanor counts of arson and recklessly endangering another person, as well as a summary count of arson.

The fire broke out on February 12 at around 11:55 p.m. Emergency services were dispatched to 310 Maple St. in White Township following reports of a commercial structure fire. The Indiana Fire Association and Citizens’ Ambulance Service were the first to respond, with additional support from the Homer City, Creekside, Cherryhill Township, and Coral/Graceton volunteer fire departments.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, which was contained to Apartment F. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, three residents from an adjoining apartment were displaced as a result of the incident. In light of the circumstances, the Troop A Fire Marshal Unit was called in to investigate.

Upon further examination, authorities identified Miller, who was known to be living alone in Apartment F, as the primary suspect. Working alongside the Indiana Borough Police Department, law enforcement located and apprehended Miller without incident early Tuesday morning.

The motive behind the arson attack remains unclear at this time. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are expected to delve deeper into Miller’s background to determine any possible motives or connections to the incident.
