Human Remains Found Near Portsmouth, Ohio: Investigation Underway

In a tragic incident, the Scioto County Sheriff’s Department has reported the discovery of human remains near the city of Portsmouth, Ohio. The 911 Communications Center received a distressing call on Wednesday at approximately 3:28 p.m., regarding a deceased body found near the 2200 block of U.S. Highway 23, just north of Portsmouth. The body has been identified as that of Wilbur Silvia, a 48-year-old resident of McDermott, Ohio, and has been sent to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for further examination.

Sheriff David Thoroughman has assured the public that foul play is not suspected at this time. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Silvia’s death is still ongoing. It was revealed that Silvia had last been seen approximately one month ago, but no missing person report had been filed due to her lack of communication with friends and family regarding her whereabouts.

Upon receiving the initial report, a deputy from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Department promptly initiated the investigation. The Rosemount Fire Department also responded to the scene and provided assistance in retrieving the body. The body was later transferred to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.
