In a disturbing incident in Pune, a 23-year-old man has been apprehended by the Chaturshringi police for the murder of his girlfriend’s mother. The tragic event unfolded due to an apparent disagreement over the couple’s intention to get married.
The accused, identified as Shivanshu Dayaram Gupta, a resident of Yerawada, was taken into custody after the lifeless body of Varsha Khsirsagar, the mother of his girlfriend, was discovered at her residence in Pashan on January 18.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the victim had vehemently opposed the relationship between her daughter and the accused, leading to heated altercations between them. The tension escalated on Thursday between 12:03 am and 12:38 am, resulting in a violent confrontation that ultimately led to the murder.
According to police reports, during the investigation, it was uncovered that the victim had repeatedly urged Gupta to stay away from her daughter. However, their disagreement reached a boiling point, and in a fit of rage, the accused allegedly strangled Khsirsagar with a dog leash.
Balaji Pandhare, the senior police inspector at Chaturshringi police station, stated, “The accused has been taken into custody, and an investigation is currently underway. The motive behind the murder appears to be the victim’s strong opposition to the couple’s marriage.”
This shocking incident has prompted the authorities to register a case at Chaturshringi police station under sections 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
