St. Martin Parish Authorities Searching for Suspect in Atchafalaya Basin Drive-By Shooting

St. Martin Parish authorities are currently on the lookout for a suspect involved in a drive-by shooting that occurred on the Atchafalaya Basin in Louisiana. The incident took place on Friday afternoon at approximately 2:16 p.m. and was reported to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office through a 911 call. The shooting happened at mile marker 124.5 on I-10 westbound.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officials discovered a male victim who had sustained a single gunshot wound. The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Tragically, the victim’s dog, who was also in the vehicle at the time, was injured as well.

Following a thorough investigation, authorities were able to obtain an arrest warrant for the suspect identified as Matthew Christopher Muse, a 38-year-old resident of Baton Rouge. Muse is wanted on several charges, including attempted crime, first-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, and aggravated cruelty to animals.

According to reports, Muse was last seen driving a dark blue 2013 Lexus with a Louisiana license plate number 425DGI. He is described as a 6’3″ tall Black male weighing approximately 184 pounds. Muse has brown eyes and brown hair.

Investigators are urging anyone who was traveling on I-10 in the Atchafalaya Basin area at the time of the incident and witnessed the shooting to come forward with any information. A cash reward will be offered to anyone whose tip leads to Muse’s arrest.
