In a troubling turn of events, the Statesville Police Department has announced the arrest of an individual for uploading over 30 files of child sexual exploitation. The arrest comes after the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation received reports about the distribution of such material.
The suspect has been identified as Devin Gage Staley, and investigators were able to obtain warrants for multiple social media accounts associated with him. It is believed that Staley uploaded a total of 33 files depicting child sexual exploitation between the dates of December 8, 2022, and April 26, 2023.
On January 25, 2024, law enforcement apprehended Staley at a residence on Jennings Road in Statesville. He now faces 12 charges of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and is currently being held without bond.
