The victims have been identified as Alagarasan, a 30-year-old construction worker, and his wife, Ilamathi, aged 25. The couple was on their way to Pannavadi when the incident occurred. Fortunately, their two children, who were also travelling with them, managed to survive the accident with only minor injuries. They have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to police sources, Alagarasan and Ilamathi were riding their two-wheeler with their five-year-old and two-year-old toddlers when they came to a stop behind a bus at Raman Nagar. Tragically, a truck transporting paddy from Karnataka crashed into their vehicle from behind, resulting in the deaths of the couple.
The bodies of the deceased have been recovered by the Karumalai Kudal police and have been shifted to a mortuary for postmortem examinations. Meanwhile, the truck driver responsible for the accident fled the scene.
Currently, the police are investigating the matter and analyzing the CCTV footage to gather more information about the incident. A case has been registered under the relevant sections, and legal action is being taken.
