DECATUR, Ga. — Tragedy struck in Decatur early Sunday morning, as a head-on collision claimed the life of one individual. The Decatur Police were alerted to the intersection of South Candler Street and Midway Road at approximately 6:55 a.m. on Sunday, responding to reports of a two-vehicle crash.
According to the initial investigation, it appears that the driver of a Dodge Charger was recklessly speeding down South Candler Street, heading southbound. In a shocking turn of events, the Charger veered into the center lane and collided head-on with an Infiniti QX4.
Sadly, the collision resulted in critical injuries for a passenger in the Infiniti, identified as 63-year-old Frankie Gresham from Decatur. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Gresham succumbed to his injuries and tragically lost his life.
The incident has left the community in shock and mourning, as they come to terms with the loss of a beloved member. The authorities have vowed to bring charges against the reckless driver of the Charger once the investigation progresses further.
