Man Arrested for shooting Police Officer and Hostage in Richland County
A man has been taken into custody after allegedly shooting a police officer and a woman who was being held hostage in Richland County on Sunday night. Despite their attempts to rescue her, Vance fired shots at the officers, hitting one of them at least once. The woman was also shot at least once as she tried to escape.
Following the initial confrontation, Vance barricaded himself inside an apartment, taking a 16-year-old hostage. Hostage negotiators were called to the scene to assist in resolving the situation. The standoff lasted for four hours before Vance ultimately surrendered. Fortunately, the 16-year-old hostage was rescued unharmed.
The injured police officer was transported to the hospital and is currently listed in stable condition. The condition of the woman who was shot is not currently known.
