Efficient Labuan Firefighters Save Over 100 Wooden Houses in Patau-Patau 2

In a commendable display of efficiency and courage, Labuan firemen successfully averted a potential disaster last night, saving over one hundred wooden houses at the water village of Patau-Patau 2.

The incident unfolded at 10pm when a fire broke out in the densely populated water village, posing a serious threat to the traditional wooden structures. Thankfully, the Labuan Fire and Rescue Department responded promptly to the emergency call, deploying a team of 37 personnel to the scene within minutes.

Labuan Fire and Rescue Department director, Abdul Rahman Ali, praised the firefighters’ skillful containment of the blaze despite the challenges posed by the proximity of the wooden houses. They used sea water, a water tanker, and fire breakers to ensure minimal damage to nearby structures. Only one house was destroyed, while two neighboring houses suffered partial damage.

During the incident, the 39-year-old house owner, Khairul Mohamed, sustained minor arm injuries. However, all other occupants were safely evacuated from the affected areas. The dedication and professionalism displayed by the firemen earned praise from the local community, as witnessed by Labuan MP Datuk Dr Suhaili Abd Rahman, who was present at the scene.
