Brian Sroka : Teenagers Arrested in Stolen Car Chase in Frenchtown Township

In the early hours of Sunday morning, a dramatic chase unfolded in Frenchtown Township, involving two teenagers in a stolen vehicle. The incident began when Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy Brett Thomas responded to a report of a stolen 2009 Dodge Charger from a residence on Kimberly Drive.

The 13-year-old driver and his 14-year-old passenger, both from Monroe, were spotted by Lt. Brian Sroka at North Telegraph Road and Mall Road. Sroka attempted to pull over the stolen vehicle, but the teens fled northbound on Telegraph Road. The reckless pursuit came to an end when the Charger veered off the road and became disabled at the intersection with North Monroe Street, landing in a nearby front yard.

Quick to react, Sroka, along with Deputies Thomas and Doug Moore, managed to apprehend the young offenders before they could flee the scene. The driver was taken into custody and lodged at the Monroe County Youth Center on charges of fleeing police and possession of stolen property. Meanwhile, the passenger was released to his guardian pending further action from the Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office.

The stolen Dodge Charger was confirmed to be the same vehicle reported missing earlier that night, adding to the gravity of the situation. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with Sroka and Thomas from the Uniformed Services Division leading the efforts. Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact the authorities at 734-240-7511.

This daring escapade serves as a stark reminder of the importance of swift and decisive action by law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of our communities. The bravery and quick thinking of Deputy Thomas, Lt. Sroka, and Deputy Moore undoubtedly prevented a potentially dangerous situation from escalating further.
