In a recent development, the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has launched a probe into an officer-involved critical incident that took place in Winnebago County, Wisconsin. The incident occurred on the evening of Friday, February 2, 2024.

**Traffic Stop Leads to Pursuit**

The sequence of events unfolded when North Fond du Lac Police Department Sergeant Bryce LaLuzerne, a seasoned officer with five years of experience, initiated a routine traffic stop in the Village of North Fond du Lac. However, the situation escalated as the vehicle in question evaded the stop, sparking a pursuit. The chase eventually came to a halt on Interstate 41 near County Hwy Z, with the deployment of a tire deflation device by a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy.

**Fatal Confrontation**

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Lawrence M. Drennan, aged 36, made a distress call to 911, claiming to be armed. Upon exiting the vehicle and approaching law enforcement, Drennan was shot by Sergeant LaLuzerne, leading to his untimely demise despite efforts to save him. Fortunately, no law enforcement officers sustained injuries during the incident.
