Pol Gen Torsak Sukvimol : “Officers Transferred in Online Gambling Probe”

On the sunny morning of February 25, 2024, the national police chief, Pol Gen Torsak Sukvimol, took decisive action by ordering the transfer of eight officers linked to a woman accused of running an online gambling network. The woman in question is Suchanun “Minnie” Sucharitchinsri, who has been at the center of a high-profile case that has captured the attention of the nation.

In a move to prevent any interference with the ongoing investigation, Pol Gen Torsak signed an order to transfer the eight officers to the Royal Thai Police’s central office. The decision to replace them with other officers was made pending a thorough investigation into their alleged misconduct.

The officers who were transferred include Pol Maj Gen Namkiat Theerarotjanaphong of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, Pol Col Phakphum Phitsamai, Deputy Commander of Investigation of Provincial Police Region 4, and Pol Col Khemarin Pisamai, chief of Chanthaburi immigration police, among others. Their transfer came after reports surfaced that they had been interfering with the investigation and displaying inappropriate behavior towards their fellow officers.

In response to the transfer, the eight officers have requested that the case be moved from the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau to the Department of Special Investigation. They believe that they will receive fairer treatment under the jurisdiction of the DSI.

The decision to transfer the officers was made under the authority of Sections 63 and 105 of the Royal Thai Police Act, as well as other regulations. The Royal Thai Police took swift action to ensure that the integrity of the investigation into Suchanun “Minnie” Sucharitchinsri’s alleged online gambling network remains intact.
