Tragic accident Claims Woman’s Life in Mitchell County, Georgia

Mitchell County, Georgia was the site of a devastating accident on Sunday, January 14th, when a 13-year-old child crashed into another vehicle, resulting in the death of a woman. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 4:16 p.m. on Old Georgia Highway 3 at Collins Road.

The driver of a 2014 Hyundai, a 13-year-old from Pelham, was traveling north on Old Georgia Highway 3 when they failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a 2023 Hyundai that was traveling west on Collins Road. The driver of the 2023 Hyundai has been identified as Wanda Atkins, who tragically lost her life as a result of the crash.

In addition to Atkins’ untimely death, three other individuals sustained injuries in the accident. The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the incident and will release more information once their investigation is complete.
