59-year-old man : Fatal Bicyclist Crash on East Colonial Drive

The tragic incident took place on a Saturday night in the Bithlo area of East Colonial Drive in Orange County, Florida. The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a bicyclist. The collision occurred just before 10 p.m. at the intersection of State Road 50 and 3rd Street.

Reports from FHP indicate that a 1996 BMW 7-series was traveling eastbound in the inside lane when it collided with a bicyclist who was crossing the road from north to south. The impact caused the right front of the BMW to strike the bicycle, resulting in severe injuries to the cyclist. The victim, a 59-year-old man from Christmas, was rushed to ORMC where he was tragically pronounced dead. It was noted that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Fortunately, the driver and passenger in the BMW were unharmed and remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities. The FHP is working diligently to determine the cause of the accident and gather all necessary information to understand what led to this devastating outcome.
