The victims, identified as Rinki Kumari (9), Raja Kumar (12), and Subhankar Kumar (13), were allegedly set on fire by their own father, Dinesh Singh, who was said to be burdened by debt and struggling with mental health issues.
According to the initial investigation conducted by Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar, Singh doused his children with petrol before setting them on fire in their own home. He then proceeded to set himself ablaze as well, sustaining burn injuries in the process. While two of the children tragically lost their lives on the spot, another succumbed to injuries at a nearby hospital. Singh, the accused, was also hospitalized and is currently in stable condition.
The motive behind this heinous act, as revealed by the accused himself, was the financial crisis that had overwhelmed him. The locals also mentioned that Singh had been under immense mental stress after his other family members had abandoned him recently. This deeply disturbing incident has left the entire community in shock and disbelief.
As the bodies of the young victims are sent for post-mortem examination, further investigations are underway to uncover more details surrounding this tragic event.
